Incidents: What to do in the first hour?
First, contact the vessel/ project.
Then address the following points:
- Is the risk removed?
- Is the spill contained?
- Is the damage / injury taken care of?
- Is the authority / captain / vessel SHEQ informed?
- Request a safety card to be submitted.
What next?
Use Incident Classification to determine severity.
Then, follow up on procedures and start communications with relevant stakeholders.
