Motion compensated crawler cranes on barges
Relatively small rotations of a barge (2-3 degrees) on which a crawler crane is placed result in large movements (4-5 meters) of the crane boom tip and, therefore, the hook and load. These movements, relative to the fixed world where the actual installation work takes place, make working safely impossible, hence operations are ceased. The implications hereof for both planning and costs are obvious.
Barge Master offers hydraulic platforms, that compensate the movements of barges/waves. The platforms are kept in an earth fixed steady position, so the carried cranes will barely move. The platforms can be placed on any barge deck, and designs have been made for 100 mT, 250 mT, 400 mT and 600 mT crawler cranes. A Barge Master platform for a 400 mT crawler crane is currently under construction.
